Only 9% of plastic waste gets recycled. The rest is burned, buried in landfills or leaks into rivers and the sea, where a bottle takes about 450 years to break down.

Sparklo builds the infrastructure that makes returning plastic easy: Sparklomats in shopping centres, supermarkets and residential areas. Everything they collect goes to recycling.

Where a deposit system exists, people get money back for every bottle they return. In most of the countries we work in there is none, so an empty bottle is worth nothing and goes in the bin or on the ground.
Sparklo builds that missing piece: machines in shopping centres, supermarkets and residential areas, a reward for every bottle, and transport to recyclers. Your funding pays for it.
