Who we are
Sparklo is a cleantech company headquartered in the United Arab Emirates. Its Sparklomats stand in shopping centres, supermarkets and residential areas in 10 countries, and Sparklo works with retailers, city authorities and drink brands.
Every Sparklomat counts what goes into it and pays a reward for each bottle, so returning one is worth a person's while even where there is no deposit system.
We believe encouragement and rewards are better motivators than fear and guilt.
That is why a Sparklomat pays for every bottle. Points, partner rewards and a bit of play in the app turn returning a bottle into something people choose to do.
How a Sparklomat works
You put a bottle in
The machine recognises the bottle and counts it. Each count goes into Sparklo's records.
You get a reward
Points in the Sparklo app, which you swap for offers from partner brands.
The PET goes to a recycler
Collected bottles are picked up and taken to recycling plants.
How we work
Build where nothing exists
We put machines where there is no deposit system, so a bottle has a value it would not have otherwise.
Count everything
Every bottle is counted by a machine. Numbers on our site come from those counts.
Say only what happened
We sell the collection of a stated number of bottles, and that is the only claim we make.
Reward, don't shame
People bring bottles back because it is worth their while, not because they feel guilty.
Bottles Back is how you join in
Sparklo runs the machines. Bottles Back lets people and companies pay for the collection and get a public record of it.
